Wheelchairs Ship 6-8 Weeks After Customer Approval

Everyday Chairs

The process is simple. Before you start, we recommend visiting with someone qualified and licensed to help you obtain your measurements such as a physician, physical therapist, or an assistive technology professional (ATP). If you have a wheelchair on hand that you know the measurements for and want to replicate, you may also be able to use these as a reference. Once you are ready to order:

1) Build your chair virtually in our online configurator using your measurements. You will be able to configure and pay for it at checkout.

2) Be on the lookout for an email from our team (contact@notawheelchair.com) with your custom chair drawings. This is usually sent within 3-4 days after ordering. Please review and respond back with your approval. If we have not heard from you within 72 hours of sending the drawing, we will assume all measurements are correct and proceed with manufacturing.

3) You chair will be ready in about 6-8 weeks from the time of approval. Once it's ready, you'll receive an email with tracking information for the shipment. If you choose to pick it up locally at our facility, we'll send a separate email to let you know it's ready for pick-up.

Our current lead times are between 6-8 weeks for manufacturing after approval.

You can request changes to your configuration up to 72 hours after you have received the drawings of your wheelchair for approval.

If you would like to make changes after the approval deadline, change fees will apply and the lead time for your chair delivery will be extended.

The wheelchair weight is highly dependent on the configuration you choose. We would suggest you expect a range of about 17-26 lbs (chair with all components except seat cushion) for most sizes.

The following approximations may be helpful. The weight of our smallest configurable chair, with minimum measurements, no support bars, soft seat, and 24” wheels, is about 23 lbs (with wheels included). The weight of the largest configurable chair, with maximum measurements, support bars, hard seat, and 25” wheels, is about 29.5 lbs (with wheels included). The majority of the orders we receive weigh about 26 lbs (with wheels included).
A pair of wheels weighs about 6-7 lbs. Adding support bars adds approximately 1-2 lbs. Choosing a hard seat option adds about 2 lbs. See the tech specs page for weights of additional components.

If you select a soft seat, 1” thick velcro strips will be sewn in on both sides at about 2” inward from the main frame tubes. For hard seats, adhesive-back Velcro will be supplied to you so you can attach it where necessary.

Yes! Clothing guards easily separate from the frame, the backrest folds and locks down, and the wheels are easily removed by way of push-to-release pins.

For chairs with a Rear Seat Height and Seat Depth at or above 18”, support bars are required to retain the same strength as smaller chairs. For all other sizes, adding support bars is an optional upgrade. They may offer increased stiffness to the chair and additional locations for handling the chair. Additionally, if you plan on using foot propulsion and do not require a footrest, we recommend adding the extra support bars in the configurator.

Yes.

We do not recommend using this chair in the water, as the bolts and other components may begin to rust. There are holes in the frame such that water should be able to drain out, however, if you plan on using this chair in water we ask that you specify this in comment section at checkout in your order.

Though the configurator bounds represent our typical manufacturing flow, in some cases we may be able to offer you a custom solution outside of the configurator constraints at an additional cost. Email us at contact@notawheelchair.com to start a conversation. Some custom solutions we have previously offered include footplate risers, soft backrests, and extra narrow front widths.

We are currently working on these and other accessories and upgrades. We anticipate launching them later this year and will update the configurator once they are available.

We do not currently sell seat cushions.

We do not currently offer alternative wheels or tires. See the tech specs page for information about wheel and tire size.

Yes, there are Velcro straps on either side of the seat that allow the seat tension to be manually adjusted up to 0.5” tighter.

Absolutely! If one of your end caps has broken or fallen out, just send us an email at contact@notawheelchair.com and we can send you the 3D print files.
